Bound as a concave spine binding sewn on paper stubs, attached to a handmade ring structure covered in goatskin. The front and back boards are covered in custom spotted calf vellum with interlocking goatskin rings at the spine, hinged with an acrylic rod for flexibility and ease of opening. The concave structure, inspired by piano hinge and door hinge bindings, dates back to the 1980s, with rod bindings seen since the Renaissance. Endpapers are hand marbled by Claire Guillot in France. Housed in a leather and Hahnemühle Bugra paper-covered Chemise-étui, placed in a lipped tray quarter leather clamshell enclosure lined in Japanese cloth and velour. The rounded spine is stamped in 22-carat gold foil. The text pages are set in Austin and Klang and printed letterpress on Somerset Book by Norman Clayton in Ojai, California. Handbound by Gavin Dovey in Pound Ridge, New York.
