Thank you to everyone who entered the contest. The correct Latin phrase is:
Laborare est orare
The Latin phrase translates to “To labor is to pray.” It encapsulates the idea that work, especially skilled and meticulous work such as that in arts and crafts, can be a form of devotion or prayer. It reflects the belief that dedicating oneself to craftsmanship or creative labor is not merely a means of production but also a spiritual or meditative act. This philosophy emphasizes the value and dignity of labor, particularly in the context of artisanal or craft-based work.
We would like to congratulate the winners! First place prize goes to Jonathan Polk. Second place prize goes to Jacqueline Matyas. Third place prize goes to Jared Fridley.
We are thrilled to announce an exciting contest featuring some incredible prizes.
The Challenge:
Hidden on random pages across our website you will find a letter colored in blue. Your task is to find and identify these hidden letters correctly. Each page will feature a single letter.
Clues:
- The letters will make up a three word Latin phrase and there are a total of 16 letters.
- The letters will NOT appear on any pages in the following sections:
- Main Menu > Editions (Any book announcement before and including the year 2020.)
- Main Menu > Authors > Contributors (Excludes Contributing Authors.)
- Main Menu > Collaborators
- Main Menu > News > Latest News (Nothing beyond Page 3.)
- Main Menu > News > Status Updates
- Main Menu > News > Announcement Schedule
- Main Menu > Media > Behind-the-Scenes Videos
- Main Menu > Store (Including any store page with the shop.suntup.press URL, even those linked to from other places on the website.)
- Terms of Service & Privacy Policy pages.
Please Note: For about an hour after announcing the contest, we discovered that when a blue letter appeared on an author bio in the “Authors” section, it also appeared on the announcement page associated with that author. This has been resolved, as only ONE of the letters apply (the letters were the same in both locations.)

Congrats to the winner! , I found this to be too hard after just 8 letters, i know many have found all 16 and have the three latin word puzzle solved. I could not get past 8 letters. But I am thankful for the opportunity and I hope Paul does many more such contests! Thank you Suntup!
Gareth
I’m interested to know the answer – I found the letters and there were several three Latin word combinations but I struggled to put them into a “phrase”!
