Bookbinder

Zigor Anguiano Calzada

Zigor Calzada is an award-winning bookbinder from Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. His love for well-bound books was instilled in him by his grandfather, Modesto Calzada and his grandfather’s brother Jose María Calzada who were bookbinders. Shelves full of hand-bound books graced his childhood home. Zigor trained for 10 years, and worked as a teacher while delving into techniques that allowed him to travel and share his knowledge.

In 2011, he received the “Award for the Best Artistic Bindings” the highest recognition in the field of bookbinding awarded in Spain for a bookbinding of “Inhabited Paradise” by Ana Maria Matute.
