Report Back: Highlights from the American Bookbinders Museum Exhibit & CODEX 2026
February 13, 2026
Earlier this month the American Bookbinders Museum in San Francisco opened an exhibition featuring approximately forty editions from Suntup Editions. Seeing the books displayed within the Museum’s galleries was especially meaningful to us.
The standing room only opening reception was a warm and generous gathering. We were grateful to welcome longtime collectors, new readers, fellow publishers, bookbinders, printers, librarians, and friends from the book arts community. What struck us most was the shared conviction that the physical book still carries cultural and artistic weight and that fine press publishing in the 21st century is a continuation of a centuries-old tradition.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Anita and the Museum staff for their hospitality and care in presenting the exhibition so beautifully.
CODEX Book Arts Fair
As many of you know, CODEX is one of the most important international gatherings dedicated to the book arts, private press printing, and fine binding. It brings together presses, artists, papermakers, printers, librarians, and collectors from around the world.
We had the pleasure of meeting a number of longtime customers who made a point of stopping by to say hello, share their enthusiasm for the books, and spend time looking through the editions in person. It was the true highlight.
We also connected with many friends and collaborators in the bookmaking community—artists, printers, binders, and fellow publishers whose work continues to push the craft forward. CODEX is always a reminder that while the fine press world may be small, it is vibrant, international, and deeply committed. Events like CODEX reaffirm why we do this work—not simply to produce finely crafted books, but to contribute meaningfully to an ongoing tradition.
We are grateful to everyone who visited, asked questions, and shared encouragement. Your support makes it possible for us to continue pursuing ambitious projects rooted in craftsmanship, collaboration, and care.
